The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz reviewed relations, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing and strengthening these relations with the Zambian President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. In addition to this, the two leaders discussed developments in regional and international events during official talks held at the Peace Palace in Jeddah.

The talks were attended by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal who is the Governor of Makkah Region and Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz who is also the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, the Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers Dr Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr Adel al-Turaifi, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani and the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Zambia Mr Abdullah Al-Owaifeer.

On the Zambian side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Harry Kalaba, the Zambian Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Margaret Mwanakatwe, the Minister of Energy and Water Development Dora Siliya, the Minister of Tourism and Arts Jean Kapata and Zambia’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Mumba attended the talks.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz yesterday received President Edgar Chagwa Lungu at the Peace Palace in Jeddah yesterday. King Salman was accompanied by the Governor of Makkah Region Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and a welcoming ceremony was held for the president during which the national anthem of both countries was played. The president then reviewed the guard of honour and shook hands with the governor of Jeddah Prince Mishal bin Majid bin Abdulaziz and leaders of the army. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques shook the hands of the official delegation accompanying the President of Zambia.

King Salman accompanied his guest Edgar Chagwa Lungu to the official parlour of the royal court where he shook the hands of princes, ministers and senior officials. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques held a luncheon in honour of the president of Zambia and his accompanying delegation.
