Hamburg – Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir held talks on Saturday with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on joint efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, as well as regional and international developments.

Al-Jubeir said: “I believe the G20 summit statement was very clear in that it stressed the importance of combating terrorism and its funding.”

The Saudi and US officials met on the margins of the G20 summit that was hosted by Germany on Friday and Saturday.

“We must not allow any country to support or finance terrorism,” added al-Jubeir according to Al-Arabiya.

“I think there is global consensus that counterterrorism efforts should be strong and continuous,” he stated.

The Saudi foreign minister also held talks with his South African counterpart Maite Nkoana-Mashabane on the margins of the G20 summit.

Saudi Arabia was chosen to host the 2020 summit, which officials said reflects the “world’s trust in the Kingdom.”
