Saudi Cabinet Meeting Chaired by HRH King Salman bin Abdulaziz

Riyadh-The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman chaired the Cabinet’s session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday afternoon.

HRH briefed the Cabinet with the results of his meetings with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter and Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao, who handed the King the Award of Information Technology and Communication in Sustainable Development.

The Cabinet confirmed that the King’s receiving of the award, which marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Union in recognition of the Saudi King, the leading role being played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Union, and its efforts being exerted in the field of technology and communications.

The Saudi Cabinet also reviewed a number of reports on the latest developments at regional and international arenas, particularly the situation in Syria and international efforts to fight ISIS.

The Cabinet welcomed the joint statement issued by the meeting of the international coalition countries, held at the headquarters of NATO alliance in Brussels, on cooperation to fight ISIS, in which the Kingdom’s delegation was headed by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense.

The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s appreciation to what has been expressed by NATO’s Defense Ministers of commending the leading steps taken by the Kingdom to form an Islamic military alliance to counter terrorism supporting the international efforts to fight terrorist groups, including ISIS.

It also praised the outcomes of the meetings of International Support Group for Syria, which were held in Munich, Germany last week, with the participation of 17 countries, the United Nations, the European Union, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
On the other hand, the Cabinet announced several decisions including the inclusion of the Ministry of Education as a member of the higher committee entrusted to implement the national strategic plan for traffic security.

It authorized the Ministry of Defense to discuss an agreement with South Korea on the protection of classified military information, and it approved the plan for Al-Jandaliyah protected area to be delivered to the Ministry of Agriculture as a pasture location.

The ministers authorized King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology to discuss a science agreement with Denmark and approved a customs cooperation agreement with Egypt.

In addition, the Cabinet authorized for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss an agreement on cooperation with Nicaragua, an operational plan for the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority, and an approval for the Saudi Human Rights Commission to reach an agreement with the International Organization for Migration.
