Riyadh-The Saudi Cabinet praised the convening of the Munich Security Conference and the G20 meeting in Munich and Bonn, Germany.

It also praised the ongoing efforts for the resumption of political negotiations on the Syrian crisis based on the Geneva communique and U.N. Security Council resolution 2254.

This came at the Cabinet’s session that was chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz at al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Monday.

The Cabinet members were briefed on all the reports issued on the various international efforts regarding the latest developments of incidents in the region and the world, and the challenges facing the international community to maintain stability and security.

King Salman briefed the Cabinet on his talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey and his meeting with Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier of the Kingdom of Bahrain during which they reviewed close bilateral ties between the Kingdom and the two countries.

The King also briefed the Cabinet on his two telephone calls made to President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on his election as President of Somalia and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on his election as President of Germany.

He told the Cabinet that he congratulated both presidents and confirmed the strength of relations between the Kingdom and the two countries and the keenness on enhancing these relations in all fields, in addition to his meeting with Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and President of World Bank Group Dr. Jim Yong Kim.

On international level, the Saudi Cabinet denounced terror attacks and bombings in Bahrain, Somalia and Pakistan and expressed the Kingdom’s firm solidarity with the three countries in the face of terror acts in all forms and manifestations, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid al-Toraifi said that the Cabinet lauded the continuing monitoring by security agencies against the activities of the deviant group and foiling their terrorist plots aimed to violate the security of the Kingdom and its stability.

Toraifi pointed out that such successful efforts exerted by security agencies in pre-emptive operations enabling them to foil four terrorist cluster cells in each of Makkah region, Medina, Qassim and Riyadh whereas their members were playing various roles, have confirmed the determination to strongly deter these terrorist activities, their formations, defending of homeland, its citizens and residents and bringing the perpetrators to justice to receive fair punishment.

The Minister noted that the Cabinet approved a series of decisions authorizing the Crown Prince, deputy premier and minister of interior to discuss with Japan a memo of understanding between the Saudi ministry of interior and the Japanese Public Safety Authority on cooperation in the area of security and fighting crimes.

The Cabinet also authorized the ministers of economy and planning, commerce and investment, industry and mineral resources and energy to discuss with the Japanese party a memo of understanding between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Japan on the implementation of Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030.

Furthermore, the Cabinet authorized the minister of labor and social development to discuss with the Japanese a memo of understanding for cooperation in the area of labor and social development between the two countries.

It also authorized the minister of commerce and investment to discuss a cooperation program in trade and investment between Saudi Arabia and governments of Indonesia, the Maldives, China, Malaysia and Japan.
