Saudi Arabia: Man shoots Policemen and Civilian before Committing Suicide | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat-Two security officers in the governorate of Wadi Al-Dawesir in Riyadh were shot a numerous times they chased a man believed to be psychologically impaired. The man refused to stop and shot at the officers and then committed suicide according to ongoing investigations.

The injured officers include Sergeant Bekhit Abdul Rahman Al-Zahrani who suffered bullet wounds to his head, neck, forehead and arms and his colleague Majool Bin Hazim Al-Dossari who was also shot in the shoulder and thigh. He was transferred to the military hospital in Wadi Al-Dawasir to be treated.

Mubarak Majid Al-Shoraida, the director of Wadi Al-Dawasir’s hospital confirmed that the hospital’s accident and emergency department dealt with the injured security officers.

The governor of Wadi Al-Dawasir Saad Bin Abdul Aziz Bin Sohaim and the vice-governor Adi Bin Falah Al-Baqmy, Chief police officer Lietenant Eid Al-Otaiby, the director of security patrol Buthaihan Mounir Al-Musirdi as well as a number of security figures visited the crime scene. Officers and forensic teams also examined the crime scene. A civilian died as a result of gun shot wounds whilst driving his car near the crime scene.
