Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- Saudi Arabia has denied reports in the Israeli media that it held secret contacts with Israel about the recent aggression against Lebanon according to a foreign ministry official.

Osama Nugali, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, told Alsharq Al-Awsat that the Kingdom did not hold any talks with Israel about the crisis in Lebanon. He said that Saudi policy follows the principle of transparency and that “its moves and diplomatic and political efforts are publicized and well-known,” adding that there are no “secret” contacts.

On September 22, the Israeli newspaper Yedi’ot Aharonot reported that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with a senior Saudi official, possibly a member of the Saudi royal family, for talks about the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
