Asharq Al-Awsat, Riyadh – Saudi Arabia and Qatar signed a land and sea border agreement Tuesday during the first Saudi-Qatari Joint Coordination Council held in Riyadh.

Saudi Interior Minister Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz and Qatari Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani signed the demarcation agreement for land and sea borders between the two countries, along with six other comprehensive agreements including political, security, military, economic, social, cultural, and media accords.

Interior Minister Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz, also Deputy Chairman of the Saudi-Qatari Joint Coordination Council, told journalists that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, were keen to maintain a high standard for the relationship between Riyadh and Doha.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani had ratified the joint land and sea border agreement after the two maps, which were signed in Jeddah last July, were annexed to it.

Sheikh Tamim Al Thani said, “The tough circumstances facing the world today necessitate an increase in coordination, cooperation, and rapprochement in all areas to confront these difficult circumstances.”
