BAGHDAD, Iraq,AP – A 10-year-old Iraqi girl was killed Saturday and two people were injured when a roadside bomb missed a passing American military convoy and detonated near the child instead, hospital officials said.

The girl was killed in the capital”s western Jihad neighborhood, Baghdad”s Al-Yarmouk hospital said. No Americans were reported injured in the attack.

Two Iraqis were also injured when another roadside bomb missed another U.S. military convoy in Baghdad”s western Radwaniya, according to Dr. Muhand Jawad at Al-Yarmouk hospital.

The body of a doctor was found south of Baghdad, Al-Yarmouk hospital also reported. Mundir Mohammed Abbas had his hands bound and was shot in the head. It was unclear why the doctor was killed.

The body of a Sunni tribal leader, Sheikh Arkan Shaalan Jassim al-Edwan, was also found Saturday by police on the outskirts of his village near Mahmoudiya, about 20 miles south of Baghdad. Mahmoudiya police Lt. Adnan Abdullah said al-Edwan, who had been shot, was found sprawled on a damaged roadside portrait of former dictator Saddam Hussein.
