ANKARA, Turkey (AP) – Turkey’s state-run news agency says suspected Kurdish rebels have detonated a bomb that derailed five cars of a train in southeast Turkey. There were no injuries.

The Anatolia news agency says the remote-controlled bomb went off Saturday in the eastern province of Bingol as the train carrying passengers and cargo was passing.

The agency says the attack prompted Turkey’s military to launch an operation against the rebel group in the region.

Rebels of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, have been fighting for self-rule in Turkey’s southeast since 1984.
