BEIRUT (AP) – Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV reports that five Lebanese citizens have been detained on suspicion of spying for Israel, raising the number of suspects captured this week to six.

Lebanese security and military officials contacted by The Associated Press refused to confirm or deny the Lebanese guerrilla group’s report.

Al-Manar ssaid Saturday that two former policemen were among those detained. It did not say when the arrests took place.

Lebanon considers itself to be in a state of war with Israel and bans any contact with Israeli citizens. Lebanese authorities have arrested more than 50 people suspected of collaborating with Israel, under a crackdown that began last year.

All have been accused of providing Israel with intelligence on Hezbollah, which fought a fierce war with Israel in 2006.
