President Michel Aoun Meets Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani (Dalati & Nohra)

Beirut- Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said that his country supported Lebanon and hoped the Lebanese leaders would overcome problems preventing the formation of the Cabinet.

The Qatari minister visited Baabda Palace on Wednesday and met with President Michel Aoun to congratulate him on his election and to hand him a letter from the Qatari Prince, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who invited the Lebanese head of state to visit Doha.

Aoun welcomed the invitation and promised to make it at the earliest opportunity.

In remarks following the meeting, the minister stressed the strong relations between the two countries, adding that Qatar will incessantly support Lebanon.

He also handed a written message from the Qatari Emir on the importance of bilateral relations between the two states and means to promote them in all fields.

Aoun entrusted the Qatari minister to convey his greetings to the Emir, wishing him continued good health and happiness and to the State of Qatar’s leadership and people further progress and prosperity.

The Qatari foreign affairs minister also met with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, MP Walid Jumblat, as well as other prominent Lebanese officials.

His visit follows an official trip made by a Saudi delegation to Beirut earlier this week.

On Monday, Saudi Prince Khaled Al Faisal, the governor of Mecca, met with Aoun and said the president had agreed to visit Riyadh following the formation of a government in Beirut.
