RAMALLAH, West Bank, (Reuters) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday to discuss efforts to reach agreement this year on terms for a Palestinian state, a senior Abbas aide said.

U.S.-sponsored peace talks have been overshadowed by a corruption scandal that could force Olmert from office. “We have agreed that the meeting will be held on Monday,” said Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.

Erekat said the talks would include all final-status issues as well as Egyptian efforts to broker an unofficial truce between Israel and militants in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
