MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) – A Somali official says gunmen have freed three people who were kidnapped in southwestern Somalia.

Bakol region’s Governor Mohamed Abdi says elders helped negotiate the release of the Danish, Swedish and Somali kidnap victims and no ransom was paid.

Abdi says they will be flown to the capital of neighboring Kenya.

The three work for a U.N. program to clear land mines and were kidnapped Saturday in Bakol region’s principal town of Hudur. Abdi has declined to say who was behind the kidnapping.
