Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- A Saudi official source stated yesterday that, “the steps for the family of Osama Bin Laden to travel to the Kingdom were facilitated in response to a request by the Bin Laden family in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The family arrived in Jeddah on the evening of Thursday 5 Jumada al-Akhar 1433 AH, and was received at the airport by members of the Bin Laden family, who are the legal guardians.”

The official source has explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has dealt with this issue according to humanitarian considerations, and legal and Sharia bases, especially as there is no information or evidence of their involvement or participation in any criminal or illegal activity.

The source concluded by saying that, “It is inappropriate to discuss in any shape or form any details that infringe on the private affairs of the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia.”

Bin Laden was killed in a May 2, 2011, raid on his compound in Pakistan by U.S. Navy SEALs.
