Nimr Sahaj al-Bougmi, was convicted of participating in the attack on the Khobar oil complex in the same year which killed 22 people, among them a Briton, Michael Hamilton. He participated in many terrorist operations including bombing Muhaya Compound. He also planned with the leader of al-Qaida to assassinate the Minister of Interior, the late Nayef bin Abdulaziz by poisoning him through the air coming out of the air conditioner. He was part of the members who transferred explosive materials from Riyadh to Mekka to be used by al-Qaida members in terrorist operations.

The majority of those executed on terrorism-related grounds were al-Qaeda sympathizers, among them a leading cleric, Faris al-Shuwaili, nicknamed Abu Jundul Al-Azdi. He is regarded as a threat on a par with Sheikh Nimr by the Saudi authorities, for his hold over radicalized Saudi youth, the majority of them Sunni. He undertook the theoretical responsibility of defending Al-Qaeda, issuing studies and research supportive to its operations.

He was arrested in August 2004 southern Saudi Arabia. With the arrest of Fares Al-Shuwail, Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia suffered a severe blow. The importance of Fares Al-Shuwail lies in his strict commitment to Al-Qaeda operations and devotion to “theoretical resistance” against Al-Qaeda’s opponents of religious scholars. He disclosed that he used to use another name to publish his studies instead of his real name after being put on the list of wanted persons.

Another al-Qaida member who was executed in Saudi Arabia on Saturday is Ali Al Ribeh. Al Ribeh participated in a huge number of terrorist operations that aimed at destabilizing security in Saudi Arabia. He worked on targeting security men in the Eastern region by throwing bombs and shooting them. He was condemned by the Saudi authorities for founding a terrorist group that assault public property and incite people to participate in demonstrations and marches.
