Aden- Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Yousuf bin Alawi received on Monday Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdulmalik Abduljalil al-Mekhlafi, who is on an official visit to the Sultanate.

The meeting discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing them in various fields.

The two sides exchanged viewpoints on regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the political developments in Yemen.

Saba news agency said that Mekhlafi discussed during the meeting Yemeni government’s efforts to reach peace and the repercussions of the attempted assassination of UN Special Envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in his latest visit to Sana’a.

The agency added that Mekhlafi also discussed with his Omani counterpart means of facilitating transit for Yemenis through the Sultanate, especially for GCC residence permit holders and students.

For his part, Alawi stressed his country’s readiness to offer more facilities for Yemenis in these harsh circumstances.

He reiterated his country’s support for the legitimate government in Yemen and noted that Oman is exerting efforts through the UN to restore stability in Yemen.

“Yemen is a brotherly and neighbor country, and we support legitimacy as it is the guarantee for the state’s continuity. We are keen on peace and normalization of conditions in Yemen and the coexistence of all Yemenis in accordance with the national partnership and the outputs of the national dialogue,” Bin Alawi said.
