Crowds of citizens and residents yesterday paid their last respects to seven martyrs who were killed after Houthi militias launched a missile from Yemeni territory that targeted an industrial area in Najran on Tuesday.

The mourners condemned the crime carried out by the Houthis who launched an Iranian-made Zelzal-3 missile from Yemen into the city of Najran and that resulted in the death of four citizens and three residents.

The Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce in Najran Abdullah bin Mansour Al Mansour is the uncle of two of those who died in the attack. He told Asharq Al-Awsat that his nephews who were killed were sixteen year old students. He added that they were inseparable and that they were both martyred on the same day.

Abdullah bin Mansour thanked the governor of Najran Prince Jelawi bin Abdulaziz for the condolences that he offered and the fact that he swiftly concluded the necessary proceedings and handed over the bodies of the martyrs to their families.

The official spokesman for Civil Defence in Najran Colonel Ali Umair Ashahrani was preparing a statement about the martyrdom of the seven citizens and residents when he was informed that one of the victims was his cousin.

Colonel Ali Umair Ashahrani said that his cousin Hadi Ashahrani was killed after the missile landed in Najran. He continued by saying “We praise God in all circumstances and we pray that the martyrs rest in peace. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to all the families of the victims”. He also said that the attack by the Houthi group goes against all humanitarian norms.
