Abu Dhabi- The UAE’s Federal Appeal Court on Wednesday issued a life sentence for a 29-year-old Emirati, who was found guilty of joining a terrorist organization and travelling abroad with the intention of fighting alongside the group.

The court also sentenced an Emirati woman to 10 years in jail and ordered the confiscation of items seized from her residence after she was found guilty of joining ISIS.

The woman posted a pledge of allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi online and posted articles and information promoting terrorist ideologies, according to state news agency WAM.

However, the woman’s sister was acquitted of all charges.

Moreover, the Appeal Court sent three other young Emiratis to Interior Ministry Rehabilitation and Advice Centers.

They were also placed on probation and prohibited from travelling for six months.
