London, Asharq Al-Awsat- Commenting on the recent speeches of “Hezbollah” Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Walid Junblatt, leader of the parliamentary democratic group in Lebanon’s parliament, told “Asharq al-Awsat” that the common factor between the two is that one reached power as a result of a military coup carried out by his father while the second is trying to control the regime in Lebanon by achieving a political coup against the Al-Taif Accord state.

Junblatt observed that “Hezbollah’s” secretary general raised in his speech the slogan of building a “strong and fair state”, which means that the Al-Taif state is not strong and unfair and also means that the required state is a coup against the Al-Taif state.

Asharq Al-Awsat asked the Lebanese MP to comment on the Syrian president’s accusation that the parliamentary majority in Lebanon (the 14 March group) “is an Israeli product”, Junblatt said he was still studying the speech and would respond to it later today at a press conference.

In reply to a question whether President Al-Assad meant from his speech “to reap” the fruit of the Lebanese steadfastness against the Israeli invasion so as to be exploited by Syria, Junblatt said he is seeking to reap the fruit of steadfastness to use it to consolidate the Iranian-Syrian axis at the expense of the Arab axis and the Al-Taif state.
