BEIRUT (AFP) – Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora is to visit Riyadh today to thank Saudi Arabia for its political and economic support during the recent Israel-Hezbollah conflict, his office said.

During his brief visit, Siniora would also hold talks with King Abdullah about the latest on the situation in the region, as well as the economic aid granted to Lebanon, his office added.

Saudi Arabia has already provided 1.5 billion dollars in financial aid to the country, devastated by a 34-day Israeli onslaught launched after Shiite Hezbollah militants captured two Israeli soldiers on July 12.

In addition, King Abdullah has decided Saudi Arabia will pay all fees for state school students in Lebanon for the 2006-2007 academic year after hundreds of schools were destroyed in the Israeli offensive.
