Beirut- The Lebanese government is scheduled to hold its first session next Wednesday as Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced that the executive decrees related to the oil sector will be on its agenda.

Hariri said he had reached an understanding with President Michel Aoun on most economic matters, noting that the head of state’s visit to Saudi Arabia will greatly help in the return of tourists to Lebanon.

Hariri spoke on Friday during a meeting at the Grand Serail with a delegation from the economic bodies and the private sector, headed by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, Mohammed Choucair.

Hariri said: “I was keen for this meeting to be among the first meetings I hold, because you are the basis of the country. The banking sector and the private sector are the backbone of this country.”

“You know, we have been through a lot. My policy from now on is that it is prohibited to return to political division, which only brings a small number of electoral votes from here or there.

“While the existence of a country advancing economically will benefit everyone and even the democratic political game will become better and the political discourse would differ radically.”

Aoun’s visit to Riyadh “will greatly help in the return of tourists to Lebanon,” Hariri told his visitors.

The president “does not represent today a faction but all the Lebanese, and his presence in the Kingdom will give a push to the tourism,” the premier said.

Aoun and “I agree on 95 percent of economic matters, and you will see him fighting for many of the things we want and you want and he will be supportive of all these economic policies,” Hariri said.

“It is true that this government will not remain for long but it can achieve many things that will improve the economy and relieve the citizen,” he added.
