London – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that the United States is “remaining quite” over some of the foreign players on Syrian scene.

He stated that Washington “is perhaps encouraging those who still support the al-Nusra Front in Syria.”

“There is several evidence that some foreign players are seeking to protect the terrorist organization,” he added.

The minister said that he did not recall that the US-led international coalition to combat ISIS had carried out tangible military operations against al-Nusra.

“We suspect that they may be protecting al-Nusra in order to use it after ISIS’ defeat,” Lavrov noted.

The group could be used to combat the Syrian regime and achieve the change that they aspire for, he explained.

Furthermore, he remarked that there remains no doubt that ISIS will be defeated even though it is difficult to predict when this victory will be achieved.
