Brunei, Jakarta – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman arrived to Brunei Dar al-Salam as part of his official Asian tour.

The King discussed with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar al-Salam bilateral relations and means of bolstering the cooperation between the two countries.

King Salman arrived at Brunei International Airport after finishing his visit to Indonesia. He was received by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar al-Salam, Crown Prince Haji al-Muhtadee Billah Ibni Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and a number of ministers and senior officials.

Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the Sultan of Brunei Dar al-Salam left the airport in an official procession for Istana Nurul Iman Palace amid a popular welcome, where students aligned on both sides of the road to welcome the king.

Upon arrival at Istana Nurul Iman Palace, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was received in an official ceremony while the artillery fired a twenty-one gun salute for the Saudi monarch and the national anthems of the two countries were played.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah provided the Royal Family Order for Brunei’s Throne to the Custodian in recognition of his efforts.

The official delegation accompanying the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques included Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh, Minister of State and Cabinet’s Member Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz al-Assaf, Minister of Culture and Information Adel bin Zaid al-Toraifi, Minister of Education Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Issa, Minister of Transport Suleiman bin Abdullah al-Hamdan; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani, and a number of officials.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar Al-Salam held at Istana Nurul Iman Palace a luncheon party in honor of the Custodian.

The banquet was attended by Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid; Prince Mansour bin Saud bin Abdulaziz; Prince Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Prince Saud bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz; Prince Talal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz; Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Prince Sattam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz; Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Consultant at the Royal Court; Prince Ahmed bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz; Prince Saud bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; Prince Naif bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Prince Rakan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz; ministers, and members of the official delegation.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah held at Istana Nurul Iman Palace a session of official talks.

During the session, they reviewed bilateral relations and aspects of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in all fields.

The session of talks was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al al-Sheikh, Minister of State and Cabinet’s Member Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz al-Assaf, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid al-Toraifi, Minister of Education Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Issa, Minister of Transport Suleiman bin Abdullah al-Hamdan; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani; Saudi ambassador to Brunei Hisham bin Abdulwahab Zaraa and Crown Prince Haji al-Muhtadee Billah Ibni Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and a number of Brunei’s ministers and senior officials.

A joint statement said the two monarchs: “stressed the importance of reaching a lasting, comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the contents of the Arab Peace Initiative and the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy.”

Both leaders agreed to activate the general agreement signed between the two countries in the fields of economy, investment, education, culture, youth and sports in addition to importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two countries in the political, military and security fields and Islamic Affairs.

King Salman left Sultanate of Brunei Dar al-Salam on Saturday where he was seen off at by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Dar al-Salam and a number of officials.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was accompanied by a number of princes.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has sent a cable of thanks and appreciation to Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah after his departure from Brunei Dar al-Salam.

The King said in his cable, “We are happy as we are leaving your brotherly country to send to Your Majesty our thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to us and the accompanying delegation during our visit to Brunei Dar al-Salam. During this visit, we seized the opportunity to review bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in all fields. We discussed the regional and international issues of common interest in the service of our interests and aspirations of our brotherly peoples. We pray to Allah Almighty for permanent good health and happiness for you and for the Bruneian people more progress and prosperity, sending to you our best greetings and appreciation.”

The King’s next leg of the tour will include Japan, China and he will end his tour in Jordan where he will attend the Arab Summit.
