The King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid has provided humanitarian relief and aid to countries that have been afflicted with disaster amounting to $680,674,206 through 172 projects since the centre was established by King Salman in 2016.

The centre has provided aid to people in need in 33 countries on 4 continents through several operational programmes that relate to food security, shelter, the management and coordination of camps, education, protection, early recovery programmes, health, nutrition, water and environmental sanitation, emergency communications, logistics services and the support and coordination of humanitarian operations.

The work of the King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid reflects the King’s keenness to help the needy and Saudi Arabia’s role and global mission in this field. In his opening speech at the inauguration of the centre, King Salman said that its establishment stems “from the teachings of our religion Islam which directs us to help the needy, protect the life of human beings, their dignity and health, and it is an extension of the humanitarian role of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its global mission in this field.”

He continued by saying “We announce the establishment and the laying of the cornerstone of this centre which will specialise in relief and humanitarian activities. It will be a leading international centre that provides relief to afflicted communities, aims to alleviate their suffering and provide a respectable life to people. We would like to take this opportunity to announce the allocation of one billion Saudi riyals to the centre’s relief and humanitarian activities, in addition to the allocation of more than one billion riyals to provide relief and fulfil the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people.”

King Salman also said “Our goal and mission will focus on exerting our best efforts to make this centre fully dedicated to providing humanitarian aid, away from any other motives and in cooperation with accredited international relief entities and organisations”.
