King Abdullah opens Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat – Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the 26th National Heritage and Culture Festival today, which is annually organized by the Saudi Arabian National Guard. This festival includes the Grand Camel Race, speeches, and artistic functions.

On this occasion, Prince Meteb Bin Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Chief of the Saudi Arabian National Guard, who is also Chairman of the National Heritage and Culture Fesival Supreme Committee, said that “the annual patronage of the Festival by our leadership is a medal of honor for the National Guard, the Festival, and all our working committees.” He added that this patronage was “in support of the march of our culture and creativity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab world.” Prince Meteb Bin Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz also praised the distinguished participation of the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] member-states in the Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival. He added “the Festival’s march has been proceeding forward, thanks to the patronage and support provided by the King, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier.”

The Japanese are also set to participate in this year’s National Heritage and Culture Festival, and Tokyo has made elaborate plans in this regard. Saudi Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Abdulsattar Turkistani expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, as well as the Crown Prince and Second Deputy Premier, for all the facilities provided to Japan to participate as the “guest of honor” at the 26th Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival. He said “the King’s patronage of the opening ceremony of the Festival is considered to be a source of pride for all participants” noting that Japan’s participation in the Festival, with a delegation of more than 500 participants, reflects the depth of the strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan.
