Jeddah, Asharq Al-Awsat- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in Jeddah yesterday.

The Saudi-Pakistani talks focused on the latest developments in the Islamic and international arenas, as well as ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation. In remarks prior to his departure for the Kingdom yesterday, President Musharraf said that the talks would also address extremism and terrorism.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have both been battling Al-Qaeda inspired violence.

A suicide bombing during protests at Islamabad’s pro-Taliban Red Mosque killed 14 people on Friday.

Musharraf on Friday visited the United Arab Emirates and held talks with the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed al-Nahayan.

The Pakistani government denied reports that Musharraf also held a secret meeting with exiled premier Benazir Bhutto while in the Emirati capital in a bid to arrange a power-sharing pact.

King Abdullah is scheduled to meet with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Sabah today, who is paying a brief visit to the Kingdom.
