Amman- Jordan’s King Abdullah II emphasized joint action uniting Arab states against regional turmoil and in face of such a decisive political juncture.

King Abdullah II stressed Sunday on the necessity for activating joint Arab cooperation and unifying Arab ranks at this “critical” stage, Jordan New Agency (Petra) reported. He said that the joint action would empower the Arab countries to counter regional challenges amid the current global political changes.

King Abdullah, in a meeting with Arab Parliament Chairman Mohammed Jassem Al-Sager, addressed regional issues.

The Palestine cause and recent developments concerning Jerusalem were discussed as well as challenges in Iraq and Libya. Counter-terrorism efforts were also addressed.

It is worth noting that above-mentioned topics will be the center of Arab summit discussions, which are scheduled for later this month.

King Abdullah reaffirmed that the issues would top the Arab summit’s agenda to be held in Jordan.

Jordan’s monarch urged ending the deadlock in the Palestinian-Israeli peace process and relaunching serious and effective negotiations to open political prospects towards a just and comprehensive solution based on the two-state solution, which he believes to be the only solution to end the conflict between the two sides.

The meeting also discussed the crisis experienced by some of the Arab countries and means of addressing them, in addition to regional and global efforts in fighting terrorism in terms of a comprehensive strategy.

For its part, the council’s delegation hailed the king’s efforts on bolstering and promoting for joint Arab action in addition to backing pan-Arab causes at various global gatherings in hopes of instating regional peace and stability.

Headed by Arab Parliament Chairman Mohammed Jassem Al-Sager, the council’s delegation included Iraq’s incumbent Vice President Ayad Allawi, former Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, former Jordanian Prime Minister Taher Masri and former Arab League Chief Amr Moussa.
