CAIRO, Egypt (AP) – Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak will meet Tuesday with Egypt’s president.

President Hosni Mubarak’s office said Saturday that the meeting would take place in the coastal city of Alexandria but gave no information on the agenda. Egyptian mediators brokered a cease-fire between Israel and the militant group Hamas in June.

Israel is also seeking the release of a solider captured by Gaza militants two years ago. In exchange, Hamas wants Israel to release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Israel has resisted Hamas demands for a large-scale release. But it is expected to free about 200 Palestinians next week as a gesture to the moderate Palestinian government of Mahmoud Abbas, who is embroiled in a power struggle with Hamas.
