JERUSALEM (AP) – Israeli troops shot and killed an unarmed Palestinian on the Gaza-Israel border early Thursday, Palestinian medical officials and the Israeli army said.

The man, 22, was killed on the Gaza side of the fence near the Kissufim crossing into Israel, and was evacuated Thursday morning by Palestinian medical teams, according to Dr. Muawiya Hassanin of the Palestinian Health Ministry. The army said troops spotted a man crawling near the fence past midnight and suspected he was planting a bomb. When he ignored warning shots the troops fired at him, the army said.
