JERUSALEM, (AP) – The Israeli army says a military court has sentenced a soldier to five months imprisonment after he was photographed pointing a rifle at the head of a detained Palestinian.

The soldier was sentenced on Oct. 28 after being convicted of abusing a detainee and improperly using a weapon.

A military official said Monday the photos were found on the soldier’s cell phone during a drug investigation. Two other soldier were also indicted. Their cases are still pending.

The official did not give the soldiers’ names and spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters.

The sentence follows several cases of photos showing soldiers humiliating Palestinians made public by Israeli groups or by soldiers themselves on social media websites.
