KEREM ATZMONA, Gaza Strip (AP) – Israeli bulldozers on Friday crushed several empty homes in this empty Jewish settlement, the first demolition of homes in settlements being abandoned under the Gaza pullout.

The bulldozers crushed at least four trailer homes, and cranes lifted several cement containers that had served as bomb shelters for residents, placing them onto trucks for removal. Israeli forces cleared out residents in this tiny outpost on Wednesday.

Israel plans on demolishing the homes in all 21 Jewish settlements it is uprooting, allowing the Palestinians to recycle the rubble for construction projects.
