Gaza, Asharq Al-Awsat- An informed Palestinian source in the Gaza Strip has told Asharq Al-Awsat that “Al-Quds Brigade” organization which claimed responsibility for firing a rocket at the Western Negev area, south Israel, the day before yesterday is a group that had split from the “Islamic Jihad” movement.

The Source added that the dismissed government’s security organs “will confront any attempt by any party to harm the Palestinian national consensus” and pointed out that there is an agreement among the Palestinian factions that the retaliation to any Israeli violation is done after coordination between them.

Dawud Shihab, “Jihad’s” official spokesman, denied in a ststment to Asharq Al-Awsat that his organization has any links with “Al-Quds Brigade” and that “Jihad” carries out its resistance action through its military wing “Al-Quds Brigades”, adding there is no relationship between “Jihad” and “Al-Quds Brigade” which he said “it is the first time it is heard of.”

The dismissed government’s security organs had arrested several persons suspected of firing rockets at the Negev after the calm agreement reached by Israel and the resistance factions under Egyptian sponsorship in June had gone into effect. Hamas attacked the parties carrying out these operations saying they were providing Israel with the excise to disavow its obligations.
