Asharq Al-Awsat received information from security sources that the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been able to cut off a strong link between ISIS fighters in Syria and terrorist agents in Saudi Arabia.

The connection was compromised after Swielem Al-Ruwaili, an ISIS leader in Kingdom and responsible for perpetrating all extremist attacks that targeted mosques and killed security men, was successfully arrested by efforts of Saudi security men.

Swielem Al-Ruwaili was captured after security men raided his dwelling in Al Jawf region, north of Saudi Arabia.

During the raid, a woman who was believed to be living with the suspect was killed during an exchange of fire between the raiders and the suspect, the Saudi Arabian official news agency SPA reported.

The woman was identified as Banan Essa Hilal, who was absent from her parents for a year and a half, and according to civil records is married to Mohammed Rabih al-Balawi, who is believed to be currently fighting either in Syria or Libya.

While announcing the mission successful, Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, urged all other terror suspects to surrender “before it’s too late.”

Terrorists will not find “a safe haven in the Kingdom and they will not be able to escape from the authorities”, warned Al-Turki.

The ministry has also warned citizens and expatriates in the kingdom against harboring terror suspects. It urged those who know where terrorists are hiding to report as soon as possible to hotline 990.

During the raid on Al-Ruwaili’s domicile, weapons, bomb-making materials and extremist propaganda accouterments were confiscated.

Al-Ruwaili was a suspect in deadly suicide bomb attacks on Al-Mustafa Mosque mosque in the Daloah village in Al-Ahsa and on a Special Emergency Forces (SEF) mosque in Asir region last year.

Four people were killed and several others were wounded in the Al-Mustafa Mosque on Jan. 29, 2015. A suicide bomber prematurely blew himself up, when security officers stopped him before he could enter the mosque.

In the Asir attack, 11 officers and trainees of the Special Emergency Forces and four Bangladeshi workers were killed when a man detonated a bomb he was carrying inside a mosque in the SEF camp on August 13, 2015. The blast wounded 33 others.

Al-Ruwaili’s capture came after security forces had killed six terrorists linked to the heinous murder of Rashidi, a Special Emergency Forces soldier, in a remote area in Qassim last month.

The six terrorists were reported killed by a round of fired bullets, in Al-Mustajiddah village of El-Ghazala, 100 km south of Hail, on the Hail-Madinah road in the Reealbikr region.
