Islamic State (IS) fighters on 01 April 2015 staged their most significant push yet into the Syrian capital, Damascus, when they overran a Palestinian refugee camp on the city’s southern outskirts, activists said. Clashes were under way inside the camp between the hardline jihadists and fighters from the Palestinian faction Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis (Environs of Jerusalem), according to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. According to the UN refugee agency, some 18,000 Palestinians are still living at the camp. EPA/SANA HANDOUT HANDOUT EDITORIAL USE ONLY/NO SALES
