Erbil, Baghdad – Iraq will hand over seven Bahraini criminals wanted in their country to the Interpol, according to a top Iraqi security source.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Bahraini embassy has requested the extradition of the wanted citizens, but the Iraqi government preferred to hand them over to the Interpol due to the sectarian sensitivity of the matter.

Iraqi National Security Council discussed the issue of the Bahrainis and agreed that it is within the best interest of the country they do not remain on Iraqi territories while they are wanted for legal cases in their country.

Shi’ite National Iraqi Alliance expressed a few days ago its keenness on maintaining stability and social peace in Bahrain.
