Maliki said “a number” of armed groups had contacted him over his efforts to achieve national reconciliation, state television said on Wednesday.

Maliki, a Shi’ite, on Sunday unveiled a national reconciliation plan in which he offered to engage in dialogue with armed groups that have committed no crimes. State television did not give further details.
