TEHRAN, Iran, AP – Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Saudi Arabia Tuesday to discuss the Mideast crisis, state television reported.

Mottaki is also to give Saudi officials a message from Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the broadcast said but gave no further details.

State TV quoted Mottaki as saying in Jeddah, western Saudi Arabia, on his arrival there, that he would discuss the situation in Lebanon after an end to the fighting between Hezbollah and Israel.

“The brave resistance of the Lebanese people prevented Israel from achieving its goals,” Mottaki was quoted as saying. More than a month of bloody guerrilla warfare in Lebanon has boosted Hezbollah’s standing in the Arab and Islamic countries; although both sides claimed victory after the United Nations-brokered cease-fire took effect Monday.
