DUBAI (Reuters) -Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Monday called for an end to violent protests over cartoons of Prophet Muhammad which have swept the Muslim world after the images were published in several European newspapers.

“We should try to cool down the situation. We do not support any violence,” Mottaki said, adding that freedom of expression must be exercised with sensitivity and people’s and nations’ values and beliefs fully respected.
