Srinagar, India- A man arrested in Indian-administered Kashmir is suspected of being involved in last month’s bomb blast in the Indian capital. Identified as Ghulam Mohd Lone, the man confessed to planting one of the three bombs that struck Delhi on 29th October, killing over 65 people and injuring more than 180.

Indian Army spokesman IN Jammu, Lt Colonel D.K Badola indicated the suspect was arrested in Doda district on Sunday “confessed” he had planted a bomb at Paharganj market. “I was paid 500 dollars for planting the bomb, 65 dollars in advance and the remainder afterwards”, the suspect admitted.

Questioned by the police, Ghulam was alleged to have described how he was given a bag containing explosives weighing 14 kilos by two Kashmiri youths near Paharganj railway station. The 22 year-old former Lashkar-e-Tayyba (or Army of the Righteous) member said he boarded a bus from Jammu on 28th October to the capital where he was met by a young man from Kashmir at Azapur bus terminal. The following day, the two were said to have boarded a rickshaw and planted the explosives under a bench close to Paharganj market.

Afterards, the suspect left the capital for Jaipur on his way to Banihal, his hometown. He also shaved his head, apparently to evade being identified.

A previously little-known group called Ingilabi said it had carried out the attacks. Police say they are trying to verify the claim.
