Saudi led Arab coalition aircraft targeted military supplies belonging to Houthi militias and those loyal to the ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh in the district of Hayfan, south Taiz.
Local witnesses told Asharq Al-Awsat that the raids carried out by the coalition targeted militia supplies in Azlah Al-Aarook which is in the district of Hayfan. The raids also destroyed a tank belonging to rebel militia which was stationed on the road between Dhabi Al-Aaboos and Al-Khazjah, and smoke could be seen emerging from the area that was targeted.
In the area of Gurab which is situated in west Taiz, local residents told Asharq Al-Awsat that “Rebel militia used weapons to force the people in the region to evacuate their homes under the pretext that the region was a military one that would be occupied by militias. They did this after taking control of it a few days ago. Their actions aimed to tighten the siege on the city and obstruct the admittance of anything and anyone, even patients coming from the rural areas of the province.”
Residents said Houthi militias and those loyal to Saleh have made the village “a military zone and have been stockpiling weapons in the region. They are also settling into people’s homes after expelling them”.
