Has Bin Laden Found his Soulmate?

London, Asharq Al-Awsat – Omar Bin Laden, the son of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, has stated that he is now back with his British wife Zaina who is also known as Jane Felix-Browne. They are currently living together in Europe, most likely in the south of France.

In a phone interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Omar said that he has just completed shooting a documentary with his wife Zaina, which the BBC will air this December.

In the documentary, he recounts his story with the British grandmother after they met horseback riding by the Pyramids in Egypt last year.

Bin Laden’s son said that he had a message to relay to the world about Islam: “Islam is not a personal matter, neither is it a national goal; it is universal comprehensive and eternal,” he said. He elaborated, “All the prophets and messengers have strived towards peace and built its foundation, but it could not have been complete without the Prophet Mohammed’s message.”

For her part, Mrs. Bin Laden told Asharq Al-Awsat that Omar filing for divorce while she was performing Umrah [the lesser pilgrimage] was invalid from a legitimate standpoint [He had succumbed to pressure from his family]. She confirmed that she was presently living under special circumstances with the man her heart had chosen.

“He did not divorce me because I am faithful and he understands me. We are living a life of joy, virtue and dignity,” she told Asharq Al-Awsat in the email interview.

However, the blushing bride refused to disclose the location of the European city in which they are now living, “I do not want to be hounded by the media and photographers who will transform our tranquil life to a living hell,” she said.

She also revealed that she was applying the final touches to the import-export company that she was starting up with her husband in an undisclosed European capital. Jane Felix-Browne stated that they were in the process of looking for a commercial partner from the Gulf region, which is perhaps more reassuring for Omar.

Meanwhile, Omar discussed his impending trip to London. He spoke a lot about Islam and said, “It is the religion of guidance and mercy and the message of peace that must be attained between the East and West.” He bases this on the premise that they are “two camps of faith and religious infidelity with no point of convergence between them.”

Omar described his marriage as, “good and already strong” despite the considerable age gap; he is 27 and Mrs. Bin Laden is 51 years old, a four-time divorcee with five grandchildren. However, the parish councilor from Cheshire who met her fifth husband, Omar Bin Laden, last September 2006 affirmed, “I love Omar enough to know that I will never leave him. I cannot live without him; his love runs in my veins.”

“I used to correspond with Omar over the internet (messenger) but he is now with me all around the clock,” she said. Mrs. Bin Laden described her husband as her closest friend and stated that they had many things in common between them.

Omar is incredibly kind and wonderful and represents all the noble characteristics of a true Arab, she said, moreover revealing that she had learnt “so, so much” from him. “His heart is pure and he is a forthright, calm and noble man in every sense of the word,” she said.

It is worth noting that Omar Bin Laden was already married with a two-year-old child when he met his current doting wife. Asharq Al-Awsat ran an earlier interview with Jane Felix-Browne during Ramadan in which she said that she had asked for a divorce after spending two weeks with her son Dean at Bin Laden’s guesthouse in Saudi. She cited pressures on her husband’s family as the reason. She has undergone the Umrah with Omar and said that it made their relationship much stronger.

“Omar has not been in contact with his father since six years now,” she said.
