GAZA (Reuters) – The militant Islamic group Hamas on Monday officially rejected Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas”s invitation to join a unity government to help him control the Gaza Strip after Israel withdraws in August.

&#34A decision was taken following a series of internal consultations within internal forums of Hamas,&#34 Hamas spokesman Mushir al-Masri said. &#34Hamas has decided to reject the offer of the Fatah movement to join a national unity government&#34.
