Riyadh, Asharq Al-Awsat- The German Minister of the Interior, Wolfgang Schنuble, said that the Security Agreement signed between Germany and Saudi Arabia was in the interests of both countries and the European Union in general. The German Minister also praised the role played by Saudi Arabia at an international level in the fight against terrorism in all its forms. The German – Saudi Arabian Security Agreement was signed in Riyadh last Wednesday following talks between the German Interior Minister and Second Deputy Prime Minister Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz.

Schنuble told the Saudi Press Agency that “the policy pursued by Saudi Arabia in the fight against terrorism, and the successes that it has achieved in this way makes it an exemplary model in addressing this misguided ideology.”

The German Minister also described Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz as “a man of unique candor and knowledge in the fight against terrorism, and therefore is capable of establishing security and stability in Saudi Arabia.”

Schنuble pointed out that exchanging information in the fight against terrorism requires close cooperation between all countries of the world. He also added that confronting organized crime and monitoring counterfeit money operations is a duty of the international community.

For his part, Dr. Osama Shobokshi, Saudi Ambassador to Germany, spoke of his hope that this Security Agreement would contribute to stabilizing security in both countries. Shobokshi also pointed out that “exchanging information will significantly contribute to the fight against terrorism. This will also contribute to eliminating criminal counterfeiting money operations, as money counterfeiting is a serious threat to the economy.”

Shobokshi confirmed that the policy of dialogue that is being pursued by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz’s government has “significantly contributed to getting the youth who had been tricked [by extremist ideology] back onto the right track. This policy [of dialogue] is significantly approved of by the European nations who are also seeking to apply it [themselves].”
