BAGHDAD, Iraq, AP – A U.S. Marine and soldier were killed by a suicide bomber who infiltrated a line of police recruits in Ramadi, and two soldiers were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb, the military said Friday.

The latest announcements brought to nine the number of U.S. troops who died in attacks Thursday, including five killed when their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb south of Karbala.

The Marine and soldier killed in Ramadi were assigned to the 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), the military said. No further information was released.

The suicide bomber detonated his explosives among a line of police recruits in Ramadi, killing at least 58, including the U.S. troops, and wounding dozens. A second suicide bomber struck Shiite pilgrims in Karbala, killing 63.

Two Task Force Baghdad soldiers were also killed on Thursday when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb while on patrol in the Baghdad area, the military said. No further information was released.

At least 2,192 members of the U.S. military have died since the war began, according to an Associated Press count.
