Aden – The first Russian aid plane arrived in the Yemeni city of Aden on Monday.

Loaded with food aid and tents for the refugees, the relief was presented by the Russian government to help Yemeni people cope with the difficult situation in the country caused by the Houthi and Saleh militias’ coup.

Russian aid to embattled country is expected to continue in the upcoming period, reported the Yemen news agency (SABA).

Earlier, a workshop on activating relief work was launched in Aden. The workshop is aimed at highlighting basic humanitarian standards.

Head of the higher relief council Abdulraqib Fatah said at the opening that the Yemeni people have fallen victim to a real humanitarian catastrophe due to the war waged by the Houthi and Saleh militias.

All sides should assume their humanitarian responsibility and save the lives of the innocents throughout the provinces, he demanded.

The higher relief council is working on sending relief aid to the people in all provinces in order to ease their suffering, he stressed.

In addition, Fatah accused the coup militias of interrupting relief convoys and of stealing the aid, which is later sold in the black market.
