Gaza, Asharq Al-Awsat – Jamal al-Khudari, chairman of the Palestinian Popular Committee Against the Blockade, has announced that the first Arab boat to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip will sail from Yemen following the success of the two European boats’ experiment.

Speaking to correspondents in Gaza, Al-Khudari said that Said Abdul-Mumin, secretary general of the National Committee to Support Arab and Muslim Nation’s Issues, informed him that a boat would sail from Al-Hudaybah or Aden with the approval of the Yemeni political leadership and in coordination with the Popular Committee against the Blockade, but without naming the sailing date.

Al-Khudari welcomed this step and said the committee is ready and prepared to coordinate for the boat to cross easily and be received at the Gaza Strip’s coast officially and popularly. He called this step important for breaking the blockade following the step of foreign activists in the two boats that broke the blockade. He applauded at the same time the Yemeni committee and people’s response to the Popular Committee’s appeals to consider the month of Ramadan the month for breaking the blockade. According to him, another European boat is scheduled to arrive on 22 September carrying eight European parliament deputies, artists, academics, and doctors to carry out urgent operations for dozens of sick people.
