BEIRUT (AP) – A Lebanese security official says one person has been killed and two others wounded after a bomb exploded in a landfill near an exhibition center in downtown Beirut.

The official says the bomb was likely left over from the country’s 1975-90 civil war.

The official says Saturday’s explosion killed a Syrian worker named Mohammed al-Wardi and wounded two others, who were taken to a nearby hospital.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.

Army troops rushed to the scene of the explosion and authorities were investigating the incident.
