VIENNA (AP) – The European Union says it shares U.N. fears that Tehran may be secretly working on developing nuclear weapons.
A strongly worded EU statement to a 35-nation meeting also says that Europe supports new U.N. Security Council “action” if Iran continues its nuclear defiance, diplomatic language for a fourth set of U.N. sanctions.
The EU statement was delivered Wednesday to a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency board. Iran, and fears that it may be trying to develop nuclear arms, are the main focus of the gathering.
