El-Sisi Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues with Abdullah bin Zayed | ASHARQ AL-AWSAT English Archive 2005 -2017

During a meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that Egypt would not hesitate to assist any Arab country in the event that it was attacked, and stressed that the security of Arab countries, including those in the Gulf, is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

In a statement that Asharq Al-Awsat obtained a copy of, the presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef said that President El-Sisi stressed that “Egypt will not hesitate to provide all means of support and assistance to fellow Arab states in the event that they are subjected to any attacks”. He added that the overall situation in the region and the various crises, tension and turmoil that countries in the region are experiencing were discussed at the meeting.

The two sides also stressed the importance of reaching a political settlement of these crises and of preserving the resources of the Arab peoples in order to safeguard the safety of Arab countries.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed conveyed the greetings of the President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and his good wishes for Egypt’s progress and prosperity at the beginning of the meeting. He also noted the depth of historical relations between the two countries and the keenness of Egypt and the UAE on strengthening their close ties which is in the interests of both countries regarding all aspects.

Friendly relations between the UAE and Egypt that have grown and developed thanks to the support provided by the leaderships of the two countries were reviewed at the meeting. This support has helped to achieve common strategic interests between the two countries and the two peoples.
