Cairo, Asharq Al-Awsat- An informed Egyptian source has denied that Cairo invited Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, to visit Egypt and stated firmly in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat: “This invitation was never sent at all.”

The source refused to give any more details saying, “Such reports are of no importance,” and added that “this report appears to be a trial balloon.”

Israeli newspapers had cited the Lebanese Al-Akhbar newspaper’s report of the above invitation.

The Lebanese newspaper said in yesterday’s edition that sources in Cairo “have talked” about the “intention” to invite Hezbollah’s secretary general to visit Cairo during the next two months.
